19th Ward Residents Invited To Basement Flooding Seminar

Learn why basements flood and how to reduce flooding risks this Wednesday, June 3.

Ald. Matt O’Shea (19th) and President Mariyana Spyropoulos of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District are hosting a seminar for 19th ward residents on reducing and understanding basement flooding.

Residents will walk away with a better understanding on why their basements flood and steps they can take in reducing flooding risks on their property.

The Historic Chicago Bungalow Association is also a co-host. Learn how to be better prepared for the “100-year storms” that may deluge the Southwest Side and suburbs this spring and summer.

The seminar starts at 7 p.m. June 3, at the Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W. 111th St., Chicago. Residents can also request a free rain barrel(s) for their homes.
