2 Adults, 2 Juveniles, Charged In Beverly Carjacking

The four were tracked by plate readers and PODs and arrested minutes after taking a woman's vehicle by force, Chicago police said.

CHICAGO — Two adults and two juveniles were arrested on suspicion of vehicular hijacking minutes after they took a vehicle by force in Beverly. All four are facing felony vehicular hijacking charges.

Just before 5 p.m. Tuesday, four people stole a vehicle by force from a 40-year-old woman in the 2000 block of West 102nd St., police said. 22nd District Chicago police and Illinois State Police were immediately tracking the flight of the stolen vehicle through license plate readers and POD cameras.

About 20 minutes later, police caught up with the four in the 100 block of 43rd Street, police said. The adults, Malik Pearson, 22, of Harvey, and 19-year-old Shaun Istre, of Chicago, were each charged with one felony count of vehicular hijacking. Two 16-year-old and 17-year-old males are also facing the same charge. The younger teen was also charged with misdemeanor resisting/obstruction of a police officer.

Istre and Malik appeared in bond court Thursday afternoon.
