4 Morgan Park Academy Students Get National Merit Recognition
Katarina Stanley and David Valentine are National Merit semifinalists, scoring in the top 1 percent nationally on the PSAT.

CHICAGO, IL -- Four seniors at Morgan Park Academy have earned recognition from the National Merit Scholarship program for scoring in the top 3 percent of the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Katarina Stanley and David Valentine were named 2018 National Merit Semifinalists after placing in the top 1 percent, while classmates Theo Covello and Abigail Herman received National Merit Commendation for also being among the top 3 percent of scorers nationwide in the test taken last year.
Stanley, of Crown Point, Indiana, is also an AP Scholar with Distinction, a National Honor Society member and a clarinet player among other activities at MPA.
Valentine, of Evergreen Park, is a High Honor Roll member who is active in the school's arts department as a musician, actor and Arts Council member.

Covello, of Munster, Indiana, is a Jerome Thrall Junior Leadership Award winner and a stident member of the Academy's Honor Council.
Herman, who lives in Mount Greenwood, is a three-sport athlete in basketball, bowling and cross country while also serving as the co-editor of the school yearbook.
