Alderman Blasts Information About New Sex Offender in Neighborhood

Chicago, IL -- A Chicago alderman blasted information about a new registered sex predator who recently moved into the 19th Ward, urging residents to be aware of the man and call 911 if they notice suspicious activity.

Ald. Matt O’Shea (19th) emailed residents on , detailing information about convcted sex offender Dwayne E. Monyko’s new address at 3015 W. 111th St. According to the Illinois Sex Offender Registry, Monyko was convicted of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in the state of Michigan. At the time of the incident, Monyko was 31 and his victim was 4-years-old.

Those convicted of sex crimes are required to register within three days of relocating to a new address in Illinois. The law spells out specific rules applying to registered sex offenders, including residency requirements, living near a park or school, or how long an individual is required to remain on the registered sex officer list.

Monyko’s registration was shared with the Chicago Police Department’s 22nd District.

Illinois State Police maintain the state’s sex offender registry, listing the offender’s address, photo and nature of crimes. Anyone caught using the information contained in the database will be prosecuted.
