Alleged Squatters Tossed from Commercial Building

CHICAGO, IL -- Chicago police ousted a group of alleged squatters from a hair salon in Beverly early Thursday.

Ald. Matt O’Shea (19th) said police served a court order and vacated a commercial building at 10225-27 S. Western Ave., also shown on Google as the Feminique Full Service Salon. The phone number for the business is also disconnected.

According to the alderman, the commercial building was occupied by a group of suspected squatters. The city filed a lawsuit against the occupants in building court. A judge signed off on a court order allowing police to vacate property, and removed anyone who return.

“Currently all locks on the building are being changed with windows and doors being secured,” O’Shea said in an email blast to constituents… First National Assets has purchased the taxes on this property and is in the process of foreclosing on it.”

O’Shea says a buyer has been identified who wants to invest in the property and rent it out to a new commercial tenant.

“With the suspected squatters removed, the buyers anticipate closing on the property in the coming months,” O’Shea told residents.
