The event is organized by artist and chef Won Kim, whose work has been displayed throughout Beverly/Morgan Park and Bridgeport, where he most recently founded Kimski, a Korean/Polish Restaurant.

Through his connections in the culinary and arts industry, Kim solicited the interest of peers to join the Asian Night Market at Edna White Garden.

"These after-sunset shopping opportunities are perfect for enjoying a garden setting in the cool of the day, trying new food options and enjoying a beverage," said Kathy Figel, director of the Edna White Garden, located at 1812 W. Monterey Avenue in Morgan Park. "We're excited to introduce this trending experience in our community and invite support for our community garden."

A dozen vendors and up-and-coming small businesses will be on hand from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Music, provided by Beverly Phono Mart, features DJ Chantala Kommanivanh. The free event is open to the public and donations will go directly to upkeep of the Edna White Garden.

Originating in China during the Tang Dynasty as a place to trade and to escape the intense heat of the day, Asian Night Markets have evolved into cultural hubs to celebrate Asian heritage and bolster local economy by supporting community small businesses.
