Arrest Made in Street Execution of 9-Year-Old Tyshawn Lee

Chicago police say a person has been charged in the murder of a young boy who was lured to an alley and shot on the South Side.

Chicago police say they have made an arrest in the murder of 9-year-old Tyshawn Lee, who was gunned down in an alley earlier this month on the South Side.

Police will be holding a news conference Friday morning where they will announce the charges.

ABC 7 reported that police identified the suspect as a Corey Morgan, 27, who was picked up Nov. 16 in Evergreen Park after leaving an Oak Lawn hotel on an unrelated gun charge.

Morgan is currently free on $1 million bail.

Chicago police detectives believe that Tyshawn was lured to an alley in the city’s Gresham neighborhood, where he was shot in the back and face in retaliation for his father’s gang ties in an ongoing dispute between rival gangs.
