An 11-year-old boy was able to escape a kidnapping attempt while in an alley.
CHICAGO — An 11-year-old boy was able to escape a kidnapping attempt in the West Beverly neighborhood Monday night. Police said a man was walking southbound in the west alley of 111th and Campbell at 7:42 p.m. Monday. He was trailed by a small red SUV — possibly a Ford Escape — with a metallic grill, driven by a second offender who is female.
The man told the victim that "I will give you a couple of dollars if you go to that red car, get my wife out, and tell her to come here."
The boy was able to run away as both the man on foot and woman in the car continued southbound in the alley.
