Beverly Hills Turkey Trot Enters 10th Year

What to know about this year's race, which will again help the John McNicholas Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and 19th Ward Foundation.

CHICAGO — A post-Thanksgiving tradition in North Beverly will enter its 10th year in 2018. Online registration is open for the 2018 Beverly Hills Turkey Trot 5K Run and Family Walk presented by CIBC Bank.

Held on the Saturday morning after Thanksgiving and Black Friday, in recent years the 3.1 mile race has raised funds for the John McNicholas Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation ("Live Like John") and the 19th Ward Youth Foundation.

"Live Like John" has becoming a rallying cry in the 19th Ward to help kids who develop cancer. The foundation was founded in 2012 by North Beverly residents Ed and Ann McNicholas after their son John died from a brain tumor at the age of 15. The Foundation has pushed for the advancements in the care and treatment of pediatric brain tumors by facilitating better coordination of information between patients and providers, improving the quality of life for patients and funding specifically targeted pediatric brain tumor research and treatment options with the ultimate goal of eradicating pediatric brain tumors.
