Beverly Theatre Guild Holds Auditions For 'Guys And Dolls'
The community theater group will be casting "Guys and Dolls." Sign up for a slot to audition Aug. 13 and Aug. 14 at Morgan Park Academy.

CHICAGO — Whether you’re a newbie or a past enthusiastic participant in community theater, the Beverly Theatre Guild will be holding auditions for the musical “Guys and Dolls” Aug. 13 and Aug. 14 in the Baer Theater at Morgan Park Academy, 2153 W. 111th St., Chicago.
Damon Runyon’s “Guys and Dolls” tells the story of the unlikeliest Manhattan pairings, including a high roller and puritanical evangelist, and the manager of a notorious, illegal floating craps game and his showgirl fiance of 14 years. The show won the 1950 Tony Award for Best New Musical, and was made into a film starring Marlon Brando, Jean Simmons, Frank Sinatra and Vivian Blaine.
“Guys and Dolls” includes such showstoppers as “Luck Be A Lady,” “If I Were A Bell,” “The Oldest Established (Permanent Floating Craps Game)” and “Adelaide’s Lament.”

Be prepared to sing a song (not exceeding 32 bars or 1 minute in length) from the musical, sung by a character you would like to audition for, or that’s in your vocal range. No a cappella singing allowed. Also, come prepared to dance with proper dance attire. For more information about auditions, the characters or to schedule a slot, visit WeJoin.
Auditions will be held at Morgan Park Academy’s Baer Theater from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, and from 7 to 10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14. Callbacks are set for 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16. Callback information will be emailed out after all auditions have taken place. Rehearsals are 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, and from 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.

“Guys and Dolls” kicks off BTG’s 61st season with performances set for Oct. 20 through Oct. 22. Other shows for the 2023-2024 season include Noel Coward’s “Present Laughter” Feb. 16 through Feb. 18, and “Godspell” May 3 through May 5. Visit BTG for more information.
