Block In Mt. Greenwood Will Be Dedicated To Anthony Pappalas
The 10800 block of Trumbull will be dedicated as "Honorary Anthony J. Pappalas Ave."

CHICAGO, IL - A block in Mount Greenwood will be dedicated in memory of a beloved 7-year-old boy who died of Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma last year. Local officials will join the family and friends of Anthony Pappalas at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 8 to dedicate the 10800 block of South Trumbull Avenue as "Honorary Anthony J. Pappalas Ave."
"Anthony was a happy, smart, active child who attended Mount Greenwood Elementary School and loved learning about space and everything NASA," 19th Ward Ald. Matt O'Shea said. "He showed more courage and strength than many of us would need to muster in a lifetime."
Pappalas' 19-month struggle with DIPG led to the creation of the Anthony's Avengers Defeat DIPG Foundation. Katie Gaskin, Pappalas' mother, founded the group in his memory.
