'Caring For The Caregivers' Focus Of Smith Village Support Group
Smith Village's monthly caregiver support group will focus on self-care for those caring for someone with dementia Tuesday, Aug. 20.
CHICAGO — There is nothing more stressful or isolating than being the main caregiver of a family member or friend with dementia. If you’re a caregiver in need of support, Smith Village’s upcoming Caregiver Support Group Tuesday, Aug. 20, will address “Caring For the Caregiver.”
The group will meet at 6:30 p.m. at Smith Village, 2320 W. 113th Place, Chicago. Sessions are FREE and open to the community.
Facilitators will address how to create a personal action plan to help balance caregiving duties with caregivers’ own personal well being. Caregivers will get tips on building a support network, delegating tasks and utilizing community resources.

“Asking for help is a crucial part of being an effective caregiver. We can help you build a support network, delegate tasks and utilize community resources,” says group leader Alice Keane, a resident of Smith Village, trained by the Alzheimer’s Association.
