Chance The Rapper Grant To Enhance Improvements At Esmond

An elementary school in Morgan Park is one of the recipients of a SocialWorks grant from Chance The Rapper.

CHICAGO, IL -- A Morgan Park elementary school is one of 20 city schools to receive a grant through Chance the Rapper's SocialWorks non-profit organization. The $100,000 received by Esmond Elementary School will help purchase a new sound system and technology to add music, visual arts and dance into the school's existing arts program.

The grant comes on the heels of an announcement in which Esmond will undergo a $20 million renovation to its campus. The renovation will include the demolition of one building and the addition of a new annex and outdoor turf field.

"I would like to offer our sincerest thanks to Chance the Rapper for his incredible generosity to the children of the Morgan Park community," 19th Ward Ald. Matt O'Shea said.
