Chicago-Area Candlelight Vigils Planned To Protest Migrant Camps

Lights for Liberty candlelight vigils are planned for Friday, July 12, in the Chicago area to protest conditions in U.S. migrant camps.

CHICAGO, IL — Thousands of people will be gathering in over 600 locations worldwide for a candlelight vigil to protest the inhuman conditions of migrant camps along the U.S. southern border on Friday, July 12. The vigils are being organized by the national human rights group Lights For Liberty: A Vigil To End Human Concentration Camps. Key events are planned in El Paso, Texas; Homestead, Florida; San Diego, California; New York City and Washington, D.C.

Several vigils are planned in the Chicago area by such groups as Southsiders For Peace, Refuse Fascism Chicago, La Casa Del Carpintero /The Carpenter's House, Proyecto Vivire, Northwest Side Lights For Liberty, Action For A Better Tomorrow, North Shore Indivisible and more.
