Chicago Labor Day Parade Steps Off Monday In Historic Pullman With Eddie Fest To Follow

CHICAGO—The great Labor Day parade tradition is making a comeback, where hundreds of members from organized labor unions will march in solidarity at the Chicago Labor Day Parade Monday, Sept. 7, which also happens to be Labor Day.

The magic of solidarity steps off at 11 a.m. from East 112th Street and South Avenue F on the Southeast Side before heading north down South Ewing Avenue to 106th Street in Chicago’s 10th Ward/Pullman neighborhood, where it disbands near 3940 E 106th St.

Organized by the Chicago Federation of Labor, the parade celebrates pride, solidarity and community togetherness, featuring the famous inflatable Mother Jones, a 12-foot tall purple replica of union organizer Mary Harris "Mother" Jones. She’ll be driving six white horses when she comes.

Stick around for Eddie Fest immediately following the parade from noon to 5pm at Steelworkers' Park, Lake Shore Drive and 87th Street. Named for the legendary steelworkers labor activist Edward "Oilcan" Sadlowski, features family-friendly activities, music and food.

Free parking for the festival is available in the Eddie Fest parking lot, off 87th Street between Lake Shore Drive and Steelworkers Park.
