Cook County Sheriff Recruiting Correctional Officers

COOK COUNTY, IL — Correctional officers are needed within the Cook County Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office merit board accepts applications on a continuous basis unless a notice is posted on their website indicating that they are not.

Applications are only accepted online, and can be found here.

Not everyone is eligible, though. Among the reasons someone would be denied a chance to become a correctional officer with the Sheriff's Office are if the applicant has been convicted of a felony, sold illegal drugs, committed a serious employment-related crime or has shown extreme financial negligence.

Active members of the United States military and military veterans can send an email to Sheriff.MeritBoard@cookcountyil.gov with an attached DD214 to request a payment waiver.
