CPD Names New Commander For District 22

There's new leadership in the Chicago police district that covers Beverly, Mount Greenwood and Morgan Park.

CHICAGO (MORGAN PARK) — There's a new commander in the Chicago Police Department's 22nd District, which covers all of the Beverly, Mount Greenwood and Morgan Park neighborhoods on the Far South Side. Captain Sean Joyce, a 25-year CPD veteran who most recently was the executive officer at 22, will be the district's next commander, CPD announced Friday along with several other leadership changes within the department.

Joyce previously served as a captain in the Office of Legal Affairs and the 4th (South Chicago) District. He also served as a Lieutenant in the 5th (Calumet) District and the Office of Management and Labor Affairs, and as the commanding officer in SWAT.

He holds a law degree from Loyola University Chicago, a master’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Oklahoma and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from DePaul University. He attended the FBI National Academy.
