Derrick Rose Wears 'I Can't Breathe' Protest T-Shirt Before Chicago Bulls Game
During warmups, the Chicago Bulls star signals his solidarity with those on behalf of Eric Garner in New York.

In a show of solidarity with those protesting a grand jury’s decision not to indict a New York City police officer in the death of Eric Garner, Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose wore an “I Can’t Breathe” t-shirt during warmups before Saturday night’s game at the United Center.
Garner died July 17 after Daniel Pantaleo put him into a banned chokehold during an arrest on a Staten Island street. When the grand jury’s decision not to indict Pantaleo was announced Wednesday, demonstrations broke out in cities around the nation, including Chicago.
On Friday, several major roadways and highways in Chicago were shut down by protesters.

On Sunday, four members of the St. Louis Rams football team put up their hands during pre-game introductions in a “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot” gesture that has come to be associated with protests over the death of Michael Brown, a young black man who was shot to death by white Ferguson, MO, police officer Darren Wilson. A grand jury also declined to indict that officer, which prompted rioting in Ferguson and protests in several cities. St. Louis police urged the NFL to punish the Rams players, but the NFL said it would not discipline any player involved in the demonstration.
Derrick Rose’s t-shirt won plaudits from some, including former Bull Jalen Rose. “I respect Derrick Rose for rocking the ‘I Can’t Breathe’ tee for warmup’s,” Jalen Rose tweeted.
