DUI Patrol Coming to Morgan Park This Weekend

If you’re out and about in Morgan Park Saturday night, you may want to rethink that extra mug of eggnog or texting.

The Chicago Police Department will be conducting a DUI Strike Force Patrol in the Morgan Park 22nd District starting at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 26 and ending at 3 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 27.

Roving police officers will be saturating a pre-designated area (location unknown) and monitor traffic for signs of impaired driving. Patrols will be paying attention to speed, alcohol-related and safety belt violations. Police vehicles equipped for speed detection are deployed to apprehend speeding violators.

In addition, the BAT (Breath Alcohol Testing) Mobile Unit may also be deployed to allow officers to expedite the process of charging a person with Driving under the Influence (DUI) before transporting the driver to to nearest lockup. The mobile unit also allows for I-Bonds to be issued at the site of the DUI Strike Force Patrol.

The DUI Strike Force Patrol conducted in the Grand Central (25th) District on December 4-5 resulted in the following:

Driver’s License Violations - 10

Unsafe Vehicle Violations - 47

Insurance Violations - 18

Seat Belt Violations - 14

Traffic Violations (Other) - 32

Total Citations - 114

Other Arrests - 1 – Driving While License Suspended

Vehicles Towed - 4
