EAST CHICAGO NATIVE INDUCTED INTO PRESTIGIOUS BOUCHET GRADUATE HONOR SOCIETY

(CHICAGO) (May 8, 2013)—Antonio Cortes, a doctoral student at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology (TCSPP) and East Chicago native, was inducted into the prestigious Edward A. Bouchet Graduate Honor Society.  The Bouchet Society recognizes outstanding scholarly achievement and promotes diversity and excellence in doctoral education and the professoriate. The Bouchet Graduate Honor Society was inaugurated by Yale University and Howard University in 2005, and now exceeds 200 members. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is the nation’s largest nonprofit graduate institution devoted to psychology and related behavioral and health sciences.

 

Antonio is currently a doctoral candidate in the Business Psychology program at TCSPP, Chicago campus. His research explores the relationship between workplace flexibility and employee engagement; how an organization’s culture views utilization of flexible work opportunities in conjunction with standing flexibility policies to determine the impact on employee burnout and engagement. Cortes graduated Psi Chi with Highest Distinction from Purdue University, majoring in psychology. He graduated from East Chicago Central High School. He’s also a member of the McNair Post Baccalaureate Achievement Program.

“Our inductees embody the qualities of Dr. Bouchet through their pursuit of academic excellence, community outreach and service,” said Michele Nealon-Woods, Psy.D., national president of The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. “This high-achieving group of students is the first to represent The Chicago School in the Bouchet Honor Society, raising awareness of our learning institution as a school of choice, and our mission of innovation and quality. Cortes is 1 of 33 students from TCSPP inducted into a network of pre-eminent scholars exemplifying academic and personal merit, character, service and advocacy for students who have been traditionally underrepresented in the academy.
