Get Rid Of Your Gourds Saturday At Chicago Ag Pumpkin Smash
Recycle your Halloween jack-o-lantern Saturday, Nov. 4, at Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences this Saturday, Nov. 4.
CHICAGO — You had fun carving it – now smash it! Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences will have a pumpkin smash this Saturday, Nov. 4. The eco-friendly event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the high school campus, 3857 W. 111th St., Chicago.
A pumpkin smash is a community effort to keep pumpkins out of landfills and turn them into compost instead. Please remove all candles and decorations.
Since the pumpkins we carve tend to be heavy and bulky, tossing them can fill up your trash can and head straight to a landfill. According to Climate Central, pumpkins and other types of organic waste emit methane gas, which is actually 25 times more harmful to the environment than carbon dioxide.
