Hey! Record collectors! Mark your calendars, there are 4 record collector events coming up. Grab your cash and go to: 

Saturday March 15th – Orland Park Record Collectors Show.  Located at the Comfort Inn/Georgio’s address 8800 W 159th St Orland Park IL.  Time 9am to 3pm and it will cost you $3.00 to get in. You’ll find tons of vinyl, 45’s, cds, cassettes, posters, and music memorabilia. All genres of music including rock, soul, jazz, metal, alternative, etc. For more information on this event, call Record Recovery at 773-585-6254. 

Sunday March 16th – Chicagoland Record & CD Collectors Show. Located at Best Western address 4400 Frontage Rd (290 at Wolf Rd exit) Hillside IL. Time 8:45am to 4pm and it will cost you $3.00 to get in. You’ll find tons of vinyl, 45’s, cds, cassettes, posters, and music memorabilia. All genres of music including rock, soul, jazz, metal, alternative, etc. For more information call 630-898-1533. Visit their website www.chicagorecordcollectors.com. The dealers are friendly and will negotiate prices with you.  

Saturday April 12th – Chirp Record Fair & Other Delights. Located at the Chicago Journeymen Plumbers Hall address 1340 W Washington Blvd Chicago IL. Time early bird admission 8am to 10am cost $25.00, regular time 10am to 7pm $7.00 to get in however with ad/flyer only $5.00 to get in. Free parking too. You’ll find independent labels, Girls Rock Chicago, DJ’s, live bands, numerous vinyl dealers, posters, cd’s, DVD’s, etc.  Visit their website www.chirprecordfair.org.  There will be food there as well. I always have a great time at this event! 

Saturday April 19th – Record Store Day. Go to www.recordstoreday.com to see what independent record stores are participating this year.  Also, keep checking the website for the complete list of special items that will be available that day for purchase. Various artists participate by releasing limited amounts of 12 inches, 45’s, cd’s, posters, books, etc. You do need to arrive early to your favorite record store on the 19th as items will go quickly. Unfortunately, not all records stores know what they will be receiving to sell in advance so you take a chance when you arrive that day. Support your local independent record stores!! We have a great one in the neighborhood, Beverly Records located at 11612 S Western Ave.  

Don’t forget to tune into WXAV (88.3fm or @ www.wxav.com) every Wednesday night from 7pm to 9pm for Alternative Sounds For Your Head with host radioruta. Alternative, indie, new wave, punk, electronic music and more!!  Also, Music While U Work Thursday mornings 9am to 11am.
