Homecoming Party Planned For Mt. Greenwood Marine At Reilly's Daughter

OAK LAWN, IL — No place in Chicago welcomes home a Marine quite like the South Side. More than 100 family and friends will gather Saturday, Feb. 24, for a homecoming party at Reilly’s Daughter,4010 W. 111th St., Oak Lawn.

Downs served five years with the U.S. Marine Corps, including 2.5 years providing security to United States embassies in Lilongwe, Malawi, Africa and Buchrest, Romania. During training with his infantry squadron, he spent nine months in Darwin, Australia. Downs was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California with the 3rd Battalion 1st Marine Infantry.

The party starts at 5 p.m. and everyone in the neighborhood is invited. A few other surprises are planned as well. Downs grew up in Mt. Greenwood, and is an alumnus of St. Rita High School.
