Investigation Continues Into Bedford Park Walmart Shooting

Victim identified as a 20-year-old Chicago man, Bedford Park cops said.

Bedford Park Police and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force continue their investigation in the death of a Chicago man found shot to death in the Wal-Mart parking lot on Thursday afternoon.

Police said in a press release that a call came in around 4 p.m. of gunshots fired in the parking lot of Walmart at 7000 Cicero Ave.

The caller indicated that they heard several shots and observed a male dressed in black fleeing from the location where the shots came from.

When police arrived, the found a man in the front seat of a vehicle with apparent gunshot wounds who was unresponsive.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead at 5:06 p.m.

The victim was identified as Stephen Sims, 20, of the 5400 block of South Damen Avenue in Chicago, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
