Jackpot In Mt. Greenwood Neighborhood Scavenger Hunt Over $2,000
Several local businesses have chipped in to create a dynamite prize for whoever finds the golden ticket in a neighborhood scavenger hunt.
CHICAGO — A community-wide scavenger hunt will leave one lucky participant with thousands of dollars worth of prizes from local businesses in the city's Mount Greenwood and Beverly communities on Saturday, July 27. Participants will look for a "golden ticket" that will be hidden somewhere along or near the 111th Street corridor that day.
Brian Giaretta, a fourth-generation owner of the Mount Greenwood neighborhood icon S&T Provisions, says his business started holding scavenger hunts at the start of summer to engage their own customers.
"In one, we did free pizza for a year, and then did a $500 gift certificate," Giaretta said. "We had over 1,500 participants that day."

The game proved so popular that other small businesses in the neighborhood began contacting Giaretta to see how they could be part of the fun.

Even more people will be out taking part in the next S&T Provisions-organized scavenger hunt — a search throughout the neighborhood for the golden ticket — on July 27. The stakes are much higher this time, with the following businesses offering prizes that will all be bundled into one. This prize will be worth more than $2,000, Giaretta said.
These businesses will also provide clues to finding the golden ticket, hidden somewhere in the neighborhood, encouraging local shoppers to keep it local.
