Man With Gun Approached Motorist At 98th And Damen

A 50-year-old victim escaped the attempted robbery by fleeing in his car.

CHICAGO, IL - A man who was sitting in his parked car in Beverly early this morning was approached by a man with a gun before fleeing the area and calling police. Chicago police say the incident, reported as a possible attempted carjacking, occurred at 3:45 a.m. in the 9800 block of South Damen Avenue.

The victim, a 50-year-old man, was not injured as he fled the area.

Unconfirmed reports on social media indicate he drove westbound on 99th Street as the suspect, who was reported by police to be in an SUV, followed.

Police say Area South detectives are investigating.
