Services Set For Matt Hooker, Mt. Carmel Alum And Wrestling Coach

CHICAGO — Matthew Hooker, a beloved member of the Mount Greenwood neighborhood and a proud Mount Carmel High School alum, has died. Hooker began fighting a rare form of lung cancer in 2016, according to Christmas Without Cancer.

Hooker, 40, was a wrestling coach at Mount Carmel. The family thanked the medical team at Rush Hospital, especially Dr. Philip Bonomi MD and Irene Haapoja RNMSN in an obituary posted by the Beverly Ridge Funeral Home.

Services for Hooker will be on Thursday from 4:30-9:30 p.m. at Mount Carmel, 6410 S. Dante. Resting will follow at St. Cajetan Church, 2445 W. 112th St. on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., when a funeral mass will begin. Internment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. 773-779-4411.
