Mother McAuley High School joins 82 other schools across Illinois for the inaugural Girls Flag Football season. First game is Aug. 27.

CHICAGO — Mother McAuley joins 82 schools across the state of Illinois for the inaugural Girls Flag Football season 2024-2025, a sport that is only expected to grow in popularity and participation in the years ahead.
Girls Flag Football will be the latest sport to debut an IHSA State Series, as the IHSA will conduct its inaugural postseason, culminating with an IHSA Girls Flag Football State Champion being crowned, in the fall of 2024.
Building upon McAuley's rich athletic tradition, the school plans to build a sustainable, competitive program over the next several years with more than 50 student athletes participating this year across junior varsity and varsity teams.

"Flag Football has been growing in popularity and with this being the official first year as an IHSA sport it was a clear choice for McAuley, as an all-girls high school, to be one of the pioneering schools to implement the sport into its athletic offering," said Laura Gill, Mother McAuley's director of athletics.
The Mighty Macs are coached by Christina Ukachukwu, who has been immersed in the flag football arena for the past seven years as both a player and a coach.
