McAuley Grad Colin Evans Promoted To ABC-7 Management Position

Colin Evans, a proud South Side native and graduate of Mother McAuley High School, is promoted to a management position at ABC 7.

CHICAGO — A proud South Side native and Mother McAuley High School graduate has been promoted to weekend daypart executive producer at ABC 7 Chicago. Colin Evans will assume her new role beginning Sept. 9. Prior to her promotion, Colin was a news producer responsible for producing part of ANC 7’s weekend morning news block for the past five years.

“Colin moves into the management ranks having earned the respect of her colleagues with her solid news judgement and steady command in the control room,” Jennifer Graves said in statement, vice president of news for ABC-7. “She brings creativity and thoughtfulness to her producing and I’m confident Colin will excel in her new role.”

Evans is a native Chicagoan, who grew up on the city’s South Side in the West Chesterfield neighborhood.

“I’m very excited to take on this new role in a newsroom full of some of the industry’s most veteran journalists,” Evans said. “This position comes with high expectations, and I am ready to rise to the occasion, not only to expand the legacy of ABC 7, but also to set a positive example in my community; especially for young people, like me, growing up on the South Side of Chicago. It is an honor to take this step forward in my career at this station, sharing stories in the city I love.”

In her new position, Evans will oversee content creation for all the ABC 7 platforms on the weekend. She will manage and lead ABC 7’s weekend efforts, working closely with the ABC 7 Eyewitness News team to identify stories, produce newscasts and post digital content that will resonate with ABC 7 audiences.

Before joining ABC 7 in 2015, Colin worked as a producer at WMUR-TV, the ABC affiliate in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Evans’ work at ABC 7 has been honored with a Chicago/Midwest Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in News Gathering – Spot News. She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists. She graduated from Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School on Chicago’s South Side and from the University of Missouri – Columbia School of Journalism, with honors.
