CHICAGO — Residents of Mercy Circle and students at Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School are teaming up to collect non-perishable food donations for families served by Pat’s Pantry.

Area residents may join in by dropping off non-perishable food and toiletry items from Wednesday, Feb. 28, to Wednesday, March 6, at Mercy Circle, 3659 W. 99th St., between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

“We are excited to bring together the generations to support the community,” said Mercy Circle executive director Frances Lachowicz. “Service is a key tenant of our faith and one of the core values of the Sisters of Mercy. Our residents and McAuley students are committed to doing their part to alleviate food insecurity in the neighborhood.”

Pat’s Pantry was established in 2021 by Kathy Cavallone-Turney to honor the memory of her son, Patrick Turney, who died in September 2019 at age 23. Because her son was passionate about his friends and neighbors in the Mt. Greenwood neighborhood and beyond, Kathy and her volunteers now provide groceries to Pat’s Pantry at the Mt. Greenwood Community Church. For more information or to volunteer, please contact Kathy Cavallone-Turney at patspantrymtgcc@gmail.com.
