McAuley Taps New Vice Principal
Dan Turney, of Oak Lawn, has been named a new vice principal of Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School.

CHICAGO, IL -- Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School has named a new vice principal. Dan Turney joined the school in early June. He will assume the role of Sister Lois Bromark, SSJ, TOSF, who is retiring on July 1.
Turney will oversee the continued integration of instructional technology across the curriculum and within classroom instruction, in addition to directing the curriculum review and professional development plan for the school and faculty. He also will be responsible for developing and directing the implementation of the school’s long range academic plan and ensuring progress toward its goals.
He will also co-chair McAuley’s academic council, which is comprised of department chairpersons, and serve as a member of the administrative leadership team with the principal, vice principal, dean of student support, and deans of upperclasswomen and underclasswomen, president, chief financial officer and vice president of institutional advancement.

“Dan is a proven educator and leader with a strong understanding of the Catholic secondary educational climate,” McAuley principal Eileen Boyce O’Reilly ’03 said in a news release. “He has a demonstrated track record of leading instructional teams and building successful action plans. I’m excited and confident in the fresh perspective and ideas he will bring to inspire our faculty and engage and empower our young women.”
Turney joins McAuley from St. Laurence High School in Burbank, where he served as the director of leadership and mission integration. In his role he coordinated partnerships and programs to support students and faculty. He previously served as the school’s assistant principal for curriculum from 2013 to 2018, during which time he built the school’s S.T.E.M. curriculum and implemented the schools 1:1 technology program.

Turney graduated from Marquette University with a B.A. in English and secondary education and began his career at a language arts teacher and mathematics teacher at St. Laurence High School, followed by teaching positions at Mount Carmel and Plainfield East High School, respectively. In 2013, Turney earned his master of arts in educational leadership from the American College of Education in Indianapolis. He is an alumnus of Mount Carmel High School and resides in Oak Lawn with his wife and two daughters.
