Microburst Hits 19th Ward, Report Tree Damage To City
City departments are working to clean up fallen trees, branches and other debris left by Monday's brief and instense storm.
CHICAGO — A possible microburst hit the 19th Ward Monday afternoon, resulting in fallen trees throughout the ward, Ald. Matt O’Shea said.
In some cases streets were blocked because of large branches making streets impassable. O’Shea said in an email to residents that some large limbs fell on homes and cars as well.
The Department of Streets and Sanitation and the Bureau of Forestry is working to clean up downed branches and debris. Residents can contact 311 if they need to report a fallen tree or storm damage. You can also report damage online by visiting Parks, Trees and Environment.
