Mighty Macs Honor Alum's 'Choose Kind' Mission

Kerry Lynch and her daughter Mary Cate are no strangers to public appearances. The two have traveled to hundreds of schools, with the mission to teach acceptance and tolerance among today’s youth.
Three-year-old Mary Cate—who was born with a rare craniofacial condition that affects her head, feet, and hands—steals the spotlight each time, as Lynch explains her condition and how her physical differences should inspire students to “#choosekind.” Mary Cate will undergo surgeries throughout her life to address her physical and developmental needs.
Beverly resident Lynch has been awed by students’ love and acceptance toward her spunky daughter, but couldn’t have expected the response they received from her alma mater Mother McAuley High School.

The pair visited the school Wednesday and were treated to a golf cart ride touring the school—but even better, a video crafted by students, to the tune of pop hit, “Uptown Funk.”
Students took the tune and crafted it into “MacNation Funk,” with lyrics such as:

Show respect to everybody, man.”
“I am still in tears, reeling from all of the love and support of 1,400 girls we met today!” Lynch wrote on the My Mary Cate Facebook page. “I have always been a proud alumna, but today was nothing short of amazing!”
