Mighty Macs Take Victory Lap
Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School celebrate the girls volleyball team winning their 16th title.
CHICAGO — Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School held a school wide recognition rally for the 2022-2023 state champion volleyball team. Hauling their championship trophy, the Mighty Macs were escorted by Evergreen Park and Chicago fire engines to the turf field, where the whole school, parents and families waited to greet the volleyball champs.
McAuley beat Benet Academy, in Normal, in three sets this past weekend, clinching their 16th state title. Students and attendees prayed for the injured hockey players from St. Ignatius College Prep, whose bus was plowed into by semitruck over the weekend.
President Carey Temple Harrington also Mac Nation, who became a factor in opponents game plans, mainly handling the noise from McAuley’s massive student section.

Joining the program were CPD 22nd District Commander Sean Joyce, Ald. Matt O'Shea (19th), State Rep. Kelly Burke (36th), also mayor of Evergreen Park; Rep. Fran Hurley (35th) and a McAuley alumna.
