Mount Greenwood Man Dies From Cold Exposure

CHICAGO — A Mt. Greenwood man was found unresponsive in his garage in the 3900 block of West 109th Street, reports said. Thomas Kapala,62, died Monday night of heart disease, diabetes and cold exposure, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner.

Robert J, Tuxford, 62, of the 10100 block of South Kostner Avenue, died Jan. 12 of heart disease, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner. Cold exposure was listed as a possible secondary cause of death.

Around the region, two possible cold exposure deaths were reported in Will County.

A 41-year-old woman died of cold exposure in Coal City. Authorities said the woman was found outside near the entrance to the library, Patch reported. She reportedly abruptly left a friend’s house last Saturday and was not dressed properly for the harsh, cold weather.

A 59-year-old Bolingbrook man was found dead outside his home on Tuesday after he finished shoveling snow, the Will County Coroner said.

In Tinley Park, a 44-year-old man from Park Forest died last Friday shoveling snow. .He was found unresponsive in a driveway on the 8400 block of Brookside Glen Drive, the Will County Coroner said.
