Neighbor's 9-1-1 Call Nabs Car Burglar: Cops
Man is believed responsible for string of car burglaries in Beverly, Ald. Matt O'Shea informed residents.

A man wanted in connection to a series of thefts from vehicles in the Beverly community has been charged with one felony count of burglary and two misdemeanor counts of theft, police said.
Officers responded to a 9-1-1 call placed by a resident who observed Anthony J. Cross allegedly inside a neighbor’s car, and apprehended him after a short foot pursuit in the 10600 block of Leavitt Street, Ald. Matt O’Shea (19th) announced on his Facebook page.

Cross was arrested and charged on Tuesday. According to court records Cross has nine previous arrests and two previous misdemeanor convictions. O’Shea said that Cross has been arrested in 19th Ward five times in the past year.
According to O’Shea, 22nd District police said that some of the vehicles robbed were unlocked.

“This incident shows the importance of reporting any and all suspicious behavior to 9-1-1. If you see something that you believe isn’t right, please do not hesitate to call 9-1-1 immediately to make a report,” O’Shea said. “Please always make sure your car doors are locked. Working together, we can keep our community a much safer place.”
Cross, 22, of the 1400 block of West 110th Place, is scheduled to appear in bond court on Sept. 9.
