One Summer Chicago Accepting Applications for Youth Summer Job Program

The Chicago Park District is offering over 25,000 jobs and internships for young adults ages 14 to 24.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s One Summer Chicago program brings together government institutions, community-based organizations and companies to offer summer employment opportunities.

Applications are being accepted now through May 15. Job candidates must complete an online application. Paper versions will not be accepted.

Applicants will be notified during the months ofMay and June if they have been invited for an interview.

All eligible youth who are not offered an initial interview will be placed on a wait list. Youth can also to explore the learning opportunities offered through the Chicago City of Learning.

Because there are usually more applicants than job openings, young adults who complete an application are advised to continue their search for summer employment.

One Summer Chicago also offers a step-by-step guide to help young adults prepare for the job market, including preparing a “work ready” email, government documents to bring to a job interview, obtaining a work permit for applicants younger than 16, and appropriate work attire.

Mayor Emanuel’s One Summer Chicago has also teamed up with Bank on Chicago to provide youth with safe, affordable banking options.
