O'Shea Appointed Chair Of Aviation Committee
Mayor Rahm Emanuel appointed the 19th Ward alderman over two other finalists, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

CHICAGO, IL — 19th Ward Ald. Matt O'Shea has been selected as the new chair of the Chicago City Council's Aviation Committee. Mayor Rahm Emanuel made his choice known on Tuesday, according to a Chicago Sun-Times report. O'Shea will replace recently retired 23rd Ward Ald. Mike Zalewski as chair of the department after Zalewski stepped down from the City Council all together.
“I always try to be a team player. I put the time in. I work hard each and every day. I have the ability to bring parties together and the track record has been just to be steady. Not say a lot. Just try to get things done,” O’Shea said.
Emanuel picked O'Shea out of a field of three finalists that included 1st Ward Ald. Proco Joe Moreno and 28th Ward Ald. Jason Ervin, the Sun-Times reported. Moreno said that while he likes O'Shea, he does not like Emanuel going with a non-Latino for the role.

“For Latino parity, it should have been a Latino–not necessarily me,” Moreno is quoted as saying in the Sun-Times report.
