Overnight Garage Break-Ins Reported In Morgan Park

Chicago police have alerted residents about several incidents that have occurred in October.

CHICAGO, IL - Residents of Morgan Park are on alert again after the Chicago Police Department issued another report of a series of garage burglaries that have occurred in the 22nd District. In several incidents earlier this month, thieves would forcibly enter residential garages and take tools and lawn equipment.

In the most recent series of break-ins, the offenders broke into locked garages by breaking windows or prying open garage doors.

Incidents were reported in the 11100 block of S. Artesian on Oct. 5, the 2500 block of W. 117th St. on Oct. 9, 11100 block of S. Longwood on Oct. 12, 2400 block of W. 113th St. on Oct. 21, 11100 block of S. Bell and 10600 block of S. Leavitt on Oct. 24 and the 2500 block of W. 109th St. on Oct. 25.

All burglaries were reported between midnight and 10:30 a.m.

Police urge residents to make sure their garages are locked, bicycles are registered with the Chicago Police Department and secure their gates and yard fences.
