Package Plucked from Beverly Porch: COPS

Suspect was seen strolling hand in hand with a young child, police said.

CHICAGO, IL -- A man strolling hand in hand with a child is believed to have stolen a package being delivered to a Beverly residence.

Chicago Police said that a package was delivered by Federal Express around 4:09 p.m. March 29 to a residence in the 9500 block of West Oakley Avenue.

An African-American male with a slight goatee was captured on surveillance video allegedly plucking the package off the front porch. Police said the man was walking hand in hand with a young child. They entered a small station wagon or SUV driven by an unseen subject.

He was last seen wearing a gray jacket and backpack, police said.

  • Have packages left in a hidden location if possible.
  • Request signature at time of delivery.
  • Have packages held at post office or local UPS or Fedex facility.
  • Call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of any suspicious people including any vehicle description and license plate information.
