Pitchfork Music Festival 2014 Lineup Announced!

Are you ready to go? Pitchfork Music Festival lineup has been announced. This alternative music festival will take place July 18-20 in Union Park. Is it worth the trip to Union Park this year? Yes! Worth the price of admission? Yes! Three-day passes are $130.00 and single day passes are only $60.00. Way cheaper than Lollapalooza. I know many of you are anticipating the Lolla lineup which will be announced on March 25th. (So far, rumored headliners are Skrillex, Eminem, Kings Of Leon)  

Here is Pitchfork’s lineup: Friday July 18th – Beck (great new record), Giorgio Moroder (EDM pioneer at 73 years old!), Death Grips (hip hop group from Sacramento CA), Sharon Van Etten (indie rock love her!), Avey Tare’s Slasher Flicks (features Animal Collective member Avey Tare), Factory Floor (industrial noise band), Isaiah Rashad (hip hop artist), The Haxan Cloak (drone infused electronic music), Hundred Waters (indie rock), SZA 

Saturday July 19th – Neutral Milk Hotel (have only released 2 albums but adored by indie fans and have not toured in many years), St Vincent (fantastic new album), Danny Brown (hip hop artist), TuneYards (the always interesting Merrill Garbus), Pusha T (hip hop artist), Cloud Nothings (indie rockers from Ohio), The Field (electronic dance music), FKA Twigs (British musician), Wilde Beasts (indie rock from England), The Julie Ruin (indie band featuring Kathleen Hanna), Kelela (R&B singer), The Range (beatmaker), Mas Ysa (nomadic composer Thomas Arsenault), Empress Of (features Lorely Rodriguez), Circulatory System (psychedelic rock), Twin Peaks (Chicago band), Ka (rapper) 

Sunday July 20th – Kendrick Lamar (hip hop artist), Grimes (electronic artist Claire Boucher), Slowdrive (dream pop band from England), Real Estate (indie rock new album Atlas is very good), Schoolboy Q (hip hop artist), Earl Sweatshirt (hip hop artist), Deafheaven (black metal band), DIIV (indie rock), Hudson Mohawke (Scottish electronic music), DJ Rashad & DJ Spinn, Jon Hopkins (electronic dance music), Perfect Pussy (punk band), Majical Cloudz (Canadian indie pop), Dum Dum Girls (all girl 60’s sounding band), Mutual Benefit (band member Jordan Lee), Speedy Ortiz (indie rock) 

Pitchfork Music Festival thrives on having a very eclectic diverse bands play their festival. I look forward to investigating most of the bands on this lineup, because, no I am not familiar with many of them either. That’s the whole idea of Pitchfork, to introduce you to musicians who were probably never on your musical radar but should be. Pitchfork Music Festival also features the Flatstock Poster Convention and the Craft/Record Collector tent. Bring some spare cash and a tote bag!
