Plumbers Local 130 Taking Applications for 2018 Apprenticeships
Plumbers Local 130 will be accepting applications for apprenticeships Jan. 23 through Feb. 22 at Chicago, Joliet and Volo offices.

CHICAGO, IL -- If you're a recent high school graduate or looking to make a career change Plumbers Local 130 is accepting applications for its apprenticeship program. The application period runs from Jan. 23 to Feb. 22, 2018. Applications can be dropped off IN PERSON at the following times and locations:
Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m. AND Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m. through Feb. 22 at the Chicago and Joliet offices.

The registration fee is $25. Applicants must bring a money order or cashiers check payable to: Plumbers JAC Local 130. If you wish to purchase the test taking tip booklet, add $10. No cash, credit cards or personal checks will be accepted.
Applicants must apply IN PERSON and meet the following requirements:
- Valid drivers license
- Birth certificate or U.S. passport
- Original high school diploma or GED equivalent or sealed high school transcript or college diploma with transcripts.
- $25 non-refundable registration fee (money order or cashier’s check); add $10 if you’re purchasing the test taking tip booklet.
Applications must meet the following qualifications. There are no exceptions to these requirements and qualifications:
- Ability to read, write and speak English.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Pass an aptitude test, drug screen, physical exam and agility test.
- Applicants must have a valid drivers license.
- Must be 18 years old. (Applicants who are 17 may be placed on the eligibility list if he or she can provide proof they will be 18 prior to being registered by the JAC.)
Applicants submitting documents will be give information where and when to appear for the aptitude test, drug screen, physical and physical agility test. At time of indenture, applicants must have valid driver’s license, a reliable form of transportation and pass a drug test.
Union plumbing apprentices start at approximately $16.40 per hour, with salary increases every six months. An apprenticeship lasts for five years. A journeyman plumber earns about $48.25 an hour, according to Local 130's website. Chicago Plumbers Local 130 also sponsors Chicago's annual St. Patrick's Day Parade.
