Procession Route Announced For Fallen CPD Officer Andres Vasquez-Lasso
Residents asked to line 103rd Street and Western Avenue Thursday, March 9, for the fallen officer's procession from Blake-Lamb to St. Rita.

CHICAGO — Residents are asked to line the procession route Thursday morning when Chicago Police Officer Andres Vasquez-Lasso’s body is transferred from Blake-Lamb Funeral Home to St. Rita of Cascia Shrine Chapel for the Mass of Christian Burial. The officer was killed in the line of duty on March 1 when he was shot to death responding to a domestic call in Gage Park.
Chicago police will be shutting down traffic for the procession starting at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 9. The procession route is as follows:
- The fallen officer’s body will depart at approximately 9:25 a.m. Thursday, from Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 W. 103rd St., Oak Lawn (Cicero Avenue and 103rd Street).
- The procession will head east on 103rd Street for three miles to Western Avenue, where it will turn north on Western Avenue.
- The procession will continue north on Western Avenue to St. Rita of Cascia Shrine Chapel, 7740 S. Western Ave., Chicago (77th Street and Western Avenue).
- The funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m.
Representatives of the student body from Queen of Martyrs, St. John Fisher, Christ the King Catholic grammar schools, and Mount Greenwood Elementary School will be lined up along the procession route.

“I am asking residents to line 103rd Street and Western Avenue to pay their respects to this hero,” said Ald. Matt O’Shea (19th).
The 19th Ward has also made handheld signs that can be picked up from the alderman’s office at 10400 S. Western Ave., Chicago, until 5 p.m. Wednesday, while supplies last. Signs will also be distributed to local schools. Signs can also be downloaded here.

Officer Vasquez-Lasso’s funeral Mass will be streamed live on the Chicago Police Department’s Facebook page and other social media platforms, as well as Chicago TV news stations. NBC 5 Chicago will be providing the news feed of the service inside St. Rita.
Visitation for Officer Vasquez-Lasso will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, at Blake-Lamb.
