Rabid Bat Found In Morgan Park
A bat found near 117th and Bell in Morgan Park tested positive for rabies.

CHICAGO, IL - A rabid bat was found in Morgan Park, Ald. Matt O'Shea said on Thursday.
O'Shea said in an email to 19th Ward residents that he was informed by the Chicago Animal Care and Control that a bat found in the 11700 block of Bell Avenue tested positive for rabies.
"All residents are urged to keep their domestic animals on a leash when outside of their homes," O'Shea wrote. "If your pet does not have a current rabies vaccination, please see your licensed veterinarian to have your pet inoculated as soon as possible. "

Residents are not advised to handle bats or other wild animals found in the neighborhood and should call 311 if they encounter one.
