Man Hits Cop, Threatens To Break His Nose: Police

PALOS HILLS, IL -- A man hit a police officer in the head while in custody, reports said. Steven Witkus was arrested by Palos Hills police for allegedly missing court on a DUI case around 4:30 p.m. May 11. Police said that Witkus required medical attention, so they brought him to nearby hospital.

At the hospital, police said Witkus began hitting the escorting officer in the head while threatening to break the officer’s nose. After Witkus was released from the hospital, he was charged with aggravated battery to a police officer and aggravated assault. Witkus had a bond hearing May 12 at the Leighton Criminal Courts Building.
