2 Workers Injured When Scaffold Collapses At Construction Site
Two workers were taken to the hospital with injuries when a scaffold collapsed at an Oak Lawn construction site Friday morning.
OAK LAWN, IL — Two workers were injured Friday morning when a scaffolding collapsed at a construction site in Oak Lawn. Both injured workers were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Around 9:30 a.m., Oak Lawn EMS-Fire-Rescue responded to a report of a scaffolding collapse with injuries at 4101 W. 95th St., where construction is underway for a new retail development at the former Kmart site. A construction worker was reported trapped in debris, but fire rescue crews learned on the way that another worker had injured himself when he removed trapped worker.
"Both were free when we got there," Oak Lawn Fire Chief Mike Mavrogeorge said. "You hate seeing stuff like this. They're working hard in their daily life and something like this happens."

When fire rescue crews arrived at the construction site, they learned of another injury. Both workers were taken to Advocate Christ. The area around the collapse scaffolding was cordoned off. An investigation is underway by OSHA and the construction company.
