'Sidewalk Sale' To Support Local Businesses During BAPA Home Tour

Before stopping at some of the neighborhood's best homes, stop inside some of the neighborhood's best businesses.

CHICAGO - Attendees of the Beverly Area Planning Association's annual Home Tour on Sunday should consider supporting a few good local businesses before they begin the tour from the Bethany Union Church, 1750 W. 103rd St. on Sunday, May 19.

BAPA is promoting an "IN-sidewalk sale" that will include participation from nine businesses along the 103rd Street corridor near the Metra Rock Island station. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., there will be a Calabria Imports Food Truck and Beverly Bank Community Info Table at the Beverly Bank parking lot at 1908 W. 103rd St.

Both Ohana Ice and Treats and the Root Consignment Company are offering Home Expo/Home Tour specials. At Ohana, 1800 W. 103rd St. get $2 off shaved ice and 5% off any other menu item. Root, 1913 W. 103rd St. is offering a half-price sale all day while the store is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Several other stores will be open during the big event as well. Tour-goers can also stop by The Blossom Boys, 1810 W. 103rd St., Belle Up Boutique, 1915 W. 103rd St., RMH Interiors + Design, 1806 W. 103rd St., Beverly Cabinets & Construction, 1917 W. 103rd St. and Morgan Locksmith, 1825 W. 103rd St.

The scope of the sale is along 103rd Street from Wood to Longwood.

The sidewalk sale will coincide with a busy day in this part of the neighborhood. Architectural experts will be on hand at Bethany Union Church beginning at 10 a.m. to present on a number of topics in the event's first-ever Home Expo.

The Home Tour itself, which has traditionally been held on the third Sunday of May, will include stops at five Beverly neighborhood homes, including the Paul Harris House at 108th and Longwood. It will go from noon to 5 p.m.

For those looking to walk to all homes on the tour, there will be two located in North Beverly and another in the central part of the neighborhood. The Paul Harris House is the southernmost stop on the tour.
