Smith Village Dementia Suppport Group Offers Holiday Strategies

Smith Village Support Group meets Tuesday, Dec. 19, to offer caregivers of loved ones with dementia strategies for navigating holidays.

CHICAGO — The holiday season brings many joyful gatherings, yet enjoying these events with a loved one living with dementia requires some special considerations.

Join the Caregiver Support Group at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 19, at Smith Village, 2320 West 113th Place, Chicago. This support group provides a confidential, safe and supportive environment and aims to combat the isolation many caregivers experience. Meetings are planned for the third Tuesday of every month.

“For people living with dementia, meeting too many people at one time or navigating complicated events can be confusing and stressful,” group leader Alice Keane said
in a news release. “We will share special strategies to help everyone enjoy the holidays.”
