SXU Earns 'Colleges of Distinction' Ranking Sixth Consecutive Year

CHICAGO – Saint Xavier University has been recognized nationally and regionally among the 2022-2023 Colleges of Distinction for the sixth consecutive year. The university was honored for its mission-driven, student-centered transformational educational experience.

SXU was recognized in the areas of nursing, business, education, career development, equity and inclusion, and military support, and was also named a Catholic College of Distinction.

Colleges of Distinction, a guide for college-bound students, honors higher education institutions across the country for their engaged, high-impact approach to education, dedicated focus on the undergraduate experience, and commitment to student success and satisfaction. Saint Xavier was chosen because of the way the institution immerses students in their fields and fosters a welcoming, engaging learning community that educates them for competence, character and career success, university officials said in a news release.

The selection process comprises a sequence of in-depth research about the institution's general education program, strategic plan, student satisfaction and more, accepting only those that adhere to the four overarching distinctions of student engagement, teaching, community and outcomes. Reviewers look for such qualities as accreditation, breadth of program, advising and mentoring, and successful outcomes for students.

Colleges of Distinction goes beyond the traditional ranking models that assess colleges and focuses on the fundamental elements of an effective undergraduate education to select the best colleges at which to learn, grow and succeed. The selected distinguished institutions are measured by student experiences and the memories they can create as they invest in their futures, so students choose an institution that will provide them with a fulfilling, individualized college experience.
