Saint Xavier University is offering a summer media camp focusing on broadcasting for high school students July 17 through July 21.

CHICAGO, IL -- If you’re a high school student who aspires a career in broadcasting, Saint Xavier University is hosting a Student Media Summer Camp. The camp is open to incoming high school freshmen through graduating seniors. The dates are July 17 through July 21, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The camp will located on SXU’s Chicago campus, 3700 W. 103rd St..
The Student Media Summer Camp will be focusing on radio broadcasting using SXU’s radio station, WXAV as an example. Students will be taught broadcasting skills, ethics, equipment and terminology. They will also participate in lessons taught by media professionals, SXU staff and students. Students will integrate all they learn to produce their very own radio broadcasts.
The camp also welcomes NBC 5 Chicago’s Meteorologist Kalee Dionne to serve as a guest speaker on Thursday, July 20 at 1 p.m. She will discuss her rise to the No. 3 ranked media market in the nation, and share her path of broadcast media, a journey often not discussed in “traditional” journalism classes.
